NYFW SS19 Part 2

NYFW has come to a close! Scroll to read what I did the last few days, and more reviews of my favorite shows!

SUNDAY

Sunday was sadly a cold and rainy day (weather is always terrible during NYFW!) and I had to swap my cute spring dress for a more temperature-appropriate look.

I opted for my new favorite plaid Vero Moda pants, with a mustard-yellow short sleeve sweater to brighten things up a bit! Of course, I’m obsessed with the fanny pack trend, so I brought my snakeskin one out again for the day!

To top things off, I went with a crown-braid (because braids are the best rainy-day hairdo!) and paired the outfit with a burgundy statement earring! (You will definitely be seeing mustard and burgundy as a huge color-combo this fall!)

I wore this look to the Nonie SS19 show, and the collection was phenomenal! Tons of sheer-organza pieces, neutral colors with pops of vivid red, and a stunning satin red-pink colorblocked dress that I swooned over!

I did a quick change for the Ruby Fang show in the evening, and opted for a Drake’s silk button down, a pleated yellow midi skirt, and added a black neck-bow!

Ruby Fang’s collection focused on jewel-tones, specifically bright red, rich purple, and vivid blue. There was also a ton of ostrich feathers on her runway, which I’ve been seeing a lot of! (hint: upcoming trend!)

I also met one of my favorite influencers, Caroline Vazzana! She was so sweet in person, and I’m so excited to read her new book, Making it in Manhattan!

MONDAY

I was supposed to attend the CAAFD showcases on Monday, but I pulled a muscle in my back and spent the day in bed! That’s what happens when you run around like crazy for a week straight!!

SHOWS

Tibi

Tibi’s SS19 collection was sleek, tailored, gender-neutral, and delivered fresh colors without being overwhelming. There was a lot of playing with proportions, and the over sized trend is still ringing through with this collection.

Key Callouts: Gender-neutral suiting, oversized fit, leather garments, muted citron, clementine, and pairings of light blue with navy.

Carolina Herrera

For Wes Gordon’s first collection for CH, he kept the vibrant and playful air alive, but scewed it a bit younger than past collections. He started strong with a plaid pantsuit, which we’ve seen on practically every runway all week, but took a turn and went a bit western, with eyelets and embroidery. He balanced the boho-cowboy chic with a bit of quirky-schoolgirl vibes, and while those two styles don’t appear to co-exist well, Gordon made them marry flawlessly!

Key Callouts: Plaid suiting, bright yellow, dark florals, contrast piping,

Veronica Beard

Veronica Beard kept the 80’s wave going that they’ve been riding for a few seasons, but this time toned it down for the cool, sultry 80’s baby. There were, of course, tons of metallics, vivid colors, 80’s plaids, and sequins, but they also toned it down with some dark earthy florals and understated stripes. I am ALL ABOUT what’s going on in this new collection.

Key Callouts: Large gingham, plaid, metallics, sequins, neon colors, dark florals

Alice + Olivia

The Alice + Olivia collection was a Wonderland of colors, prints, and textures, and in true A+O fashion, designer Stacey Bendet brought out the quirky, whimsical, fantasy pieces that her girls crave. Important colors were pale blue, bold red, and citron yellow, as well as handkerchief prints, and bold florals.

Key Callouts: handkerchief print, pale blue, bold red, and citron yellow
