Top Trends From NYFW '18

NYFW is my favorite two weeks of the year, and (by no coincidence, I'm sure) Fashion Week in February always falls during my birthday! This year, I had the pleasure of attending multiple shows, as well as working the show for the designer I intern for, Cushnie et Ochs. All the shows were phenomenal, and there were several key colors, silhouettes, and details that were present throughout MANY collections. Even if these were Fall/Winter collections, these trends can definitely be worn in Spring and Summer! I pulled out some of the best ones, gave a little runway inspiration, and then curated some great pieces so you can add these trends to your wardrobe! (and at a MUCH lower price than the designer budget!)

COLOR

PINK

I am SO not mad about this one. Every shade from blush to fuchsia showed up on runways, but there was a definite liking for HOT hot pink, especially in pantsuits and trousers (you already know I'm planning on buying one...) But if you're not quite into rocking a florescent Barbie-pink suit, you can easily throw on a pair of pink mules, or a pink suede bag as a small pop of color!

RED

Equally as vibrant, bright cherry red was the center of attention on so many catwalks. It's a power statement! (and again... in pantsuits!) But if you're not into a head-to-toe firey red, try a bold earring or a romantic lace top!

SILHOUETTES

PANTSUIT

We've been seeing this girl-power silhouette for multiple seasons now, but each time with slight variations. This season, it seems to be with wide leg pants, in bold colors, or with crazy details like fur cuffs or ostrich feathers! If you're feeling fun, grab an emerald green cigarette suit, or just get your feel wet and pair these black wide leg pants with a black blazer!

Slip Dress

One of my personal favorites, the slip dress has also been around for a little while. It easily goes from day to night. Just throw on a T-shirt (or even a button down if you're adventurous) underneath during the day, and you can take it off and toss it in your bag for drinks out with the girls or your guy! Pick one in satin or silk and pair with sneakers for the ultimate sexy-tomboy look.

DETAILS

POET SLEEVE

A slight variation on the bell sleeve that we've been seeing for quite some time, the new Poet Sleeve is cinched at the wrist so that it creates a balloon of fabric at the bottom. A little Renaissance-esque detail that would work beautifully for Spring and Fall styles!

Fur Trimmed

Whether it's a pop of color on the trim of a jacket, or a fun stole thrown over your shoulder, adding unexpected punches for faux fur was a key detail on the runways, and no one did it better than Sally LaPointe! The good news, this trend is easy to try with a faux fur stole that you can use like a scarf, or just thrown over one shoulder!

And that's it! I hope you found some great pieces to refresh your wardrobe for the season!
