No Sleep Till...

Brooklyn! The roomies and I took a trip down to Williamsburg to do some vintage shopping and explore a different part of the city. Grand and Bedford St both have some cool stores If you ever visit, and Antionette is a definite  favorite.

For today, I decided to channel a more "downtown" vibe with a leather mini-skirt, oversized knit sweater, heeled booties, metal ponytail holder, and a metal collar necklace. I like how the bulkiness of the sweater counters the short skirt and the mustard yellow color looked so cool against this grey wall we found.

January Lookbook

Back with my favorite looks of the month! This is my first lookbook done in Texas, thanks to my gorgeous friend Lauren (who makes a cameo towards the end!) I'm about to head back to NYC soon, so stay tuned next month for February's lookbook!

Preparing to Go Platinum

1. Pick The Right Color

You would think there's only one or two shades, right? wrong. Like any hair color, there are many shades and variations. For platinum/white hair you can choose to be more yellow, grey, purple, or silver. I went with just a slight touch of golden blonde. Only enough that I wouldn't be completely white.

If you're not sure, I would stick with whatever your natural tone is (warm vs cool).

2. Prepare Your Hair

My biggest tip would be DO NOT wash your hair for at least 3 days before the appointment! The natural oils will protect your scalp and make it a lot less painful (bleach burning your head, no thank you!)

3. Always Go to a Professional

Yes, box-dye costs $10 and a professional costs $100+, but PLEASE think of the damage that boxed dye will do to your hair!! (not to mention the color-gone-horribly-wrong situation that very well could happen!) A professional will know how to best color and care for your locks and will use only top of the line products that will protect your hair from unnecessary damage!

4. Stock Up

Platinum blonde takes a lot of new products (as well as commitment) Check out my list of the Best Products for Bottle Blondes!

5. Learn to Tame the Roots

There will eventually come a time where you have a full inch of brown roots, and your appointment isn't for another week. So what do you do? Spray and Tease! I use Batiste Light and Blonde to cover a little color, and then lightly tease at the roots. (<-- Remember this!! It will come in handy!!)

Sweater weather is finally here, and I was so excited to pull this Lou & Grey sweater out from my closet! I can tell that sweaters, pixie pants, and slip ons are going to be my uniform this fall seeing as they're so comfortable and easy! I also got a chance to wear my new obsession, Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Black Honey (which I reviewed here!)

Rompin' Around

This adorable leaf print romper was on sale at LOFT and I snatched it up as soon as I spotted it! I love the way it paired with my coral statement earrings from Francesca's, Clinique Poppy Pop lipstick, and my favorite ankle-strap flats by Steve Madden!

Mint Midi

I felt a bit Audrey Hepburn in this LOFT mint pleated midi-skirt, black longsleeve, BCBG pumps, and J.Crew Factory necklace. This outfit is so flirty and feminine, I love it!

Bottle Blonde 101

There are a lot of things that people don't tell you about going blonde. The inevitable dumb blonde jokes are obvious, as are the dreaded brown roots. Here are a few things I've learned when making the transition from deep chocolate to bright and golden and staying that way!
